#project330: Journalism Daydreaming

The #project330 Love Letter to My 20’s continues today.

I discovered my calling as a media photographer.

The previous year, I began work at LSU’s student newspaper, and when I turned 22, I was hired as the photo editor at The Daily Reveille. I made sure my photographers were taken care of, shot assignments and worked with other editors on staff to take care of whatever business needed attending.

When the summer rolled around, I was hired as a photo intern at 225, a Baton Rouge arts and lifestyle magazine. It was a great environment for learning, and I was given so much freedom to capture assignments the way I saw fit. The folks at 225 helped me realize that yes, I actually did want to pursue this crazy journalism dream of mine when graduation rolled around.

Today, I pay homage to those first two publications who hired me to photograph the news and to the editors who trusted a novice to document important stories for their readers.
