Happy Friday, friends! I hope things are going well for y’all this week and that your 2012 has been kicked off right.
I certainly know mine has!
Onward to this week’s favorites…
Photography
- I loved the post at Rock the Shot about four simple steps to change your life.
- I thought What the Duck had fallen off the face of the earth. Apparently not because Aaron Johnson created a piece about New Year’s Resolutions. Love it!
- 2011: The year of photography not being a crime. Some interesting points here.
- If you’re a photographer, you’ve probably already seen this passed around. If you haven’t, check it out. Portraits are more than paper. (Just a heads up: It breaks my heart.)
- There are some stunning images in ESPN’s Sports Photos of 2011.
- I’ve always loved fireflies, but I hardly see them anymore. Digital Photo Blog’s photos of golden fireflies in Japan are simply magical. No, really.
- Thank you, Chase Jarvis. “The future of photography –as has always been with the future of art– is cumulative, not partitive.”
- Michael Chrisman, a freelance photog in Toronto, made a year-long exposure of the city. And it’s pretty darn awesome, too.
- I’m apparently not the only person who likes to take photos of my feet in exotic locations. Thank goodness.
- Brendan Hoffman, along with TIME editors, created The Iowa Caucus in Two Minutes. (And some more political goodness: Awkward Campaign Photos. You’re welcome.)
- Joe McNally reflects on the changes in the last 20 years at National Geographic.
- If you don’t know this already, you should. I absolutely love what Photoshelter is doing for the photo community, and their series of videos about 2012 being your best business year ever is out of this world.
Odds & Ends
- If famous writers had written Twilight.
- The end result is super cool, but the process of getting there would have totally stressed me out. What happens when you give kids thousands of stickers.
- If you’re still looking for a New Year’s Resolution, check out these 20 resolutions for 20-somethings.
- I loved Southern Living’s BCS Battle of the Cupcakes. (However, does anyone else think it was amusing that the Alabama cupcake’s flag said ‘Geaux Alabama?’ Just me?)
- And then someone created my FAVORITE Ryan Gosling tumblr. No, really. Check out Hey girl. I heart NPR. Be still, my journalism-loving heart!
What are some of your favorites from the internet this week? And what are your weekend plans?
Whatever you might be doing, enjoy yourself, and I’ll see y’all back here on Monday!
kim - I love the famous writers/Twilight thing. Awesome!
