On Assignment | Mayer Co. Clothiers | 225

I’d never been out to Mayer Co. Clothiers before this assignment was given to be in September, but I’d heard about them. My mother-in-law mentioned them to me once, pointing the shop out as we drove past it one day after brunch, stating that was where she purchased the gown she wore to our wedding. She also said the shop had excellent selection and friendly (and helpful!) sales people who assisted her in her purchase.

Sadly, Mayer Co. Clothiers is closing its doors in late December, and Baton Rouge is losing a locally owned and operated clothing shop, established in 1985.

I’m sure many locals will be sad to see the shop go, and I know owners Jim and Diane Mayer will also be disappointed. However, it was a pleasure meeting the Mayers and getting the opportunity to photograph them in their shop.
