Carl Kasell, a veteran NPR reporter and host, visited my alma mater’s journalism school in early October, and I had the pleasure of documenting and attending the event.
Kasell spoke about his time on Morning Edition, speaking in length about 9/11 and the reporting of the news that day, saying since the reports they were getting changed by the minute, they didn’t have the opportunity to write anything out before going on air. He said they basically winged it when they were on the air with the most up-to-date reports. It sounded like a wild, life-changing experience.
I hope to one day be able to speak about my career in the way Kasell did that evening at LSU. And I hope that I can make the same kind of impact by reporting the news through my images.
