Freelance writer Daryl Moore and I met up with former LSU softball star Emily Turner one Sunday morning in late June at a local coffee shop for a feature article for the August issue of 225.

While Emily sipped her coffee, we chatted, took some notes and learned a little about her life after softball. She also put her iPod on shuffle for us, and we jotted down the first ten songs that appeared.

Turner is an anchor for a local television station here in Baton Rouge, and she said she has worked numerous jobs at her station before landing her job as an anchor.

When she’s not working, she spends time coaching kids in pitching. During her time training these kids, she has given away much of her LSU sports memorabilia, including her gloves and cleats.

For the photos, we asked Turner to bring a piece of memorabilia that she could talk about, so when we were done with the interview, we walked out to her car and she pulled out a life-sized photo poster of herself pitching. It was given to her on her last game pitching for LSU. She said it was the most memorable day of her life because the team was up against #1 ranked UT, and LSU won.

Turner said, “Everything I am right now, I owe to LSU softball.”

The portraits of Emily Turner with her life-sized photo turned out beautifully and can be seen in the August edition of 225.
