In June, I visited Rockstar Racing with one of 225’s freelancers, Daryl, to work on a story.
We received the grand tour by owner Brent Melancon and had the opportunity to actually try out the go karts, too, after I had taken images of patrons racing.
We were given a heat number and a racing name. Mine was Photo Lady.
Once on the track, we put on our helmets and then were off! I arranged it to where I was able to photograph while driving, and I pulled over for a second so that Brent could get a photograph of me in the kart, because, let’s be honest, it isn’t every day that you get to drive a go kart and photograph while racing a fellow freelancer.
Then I got back on the track and took some more photographs while driving. It was a little scary (not the driving, but the thought of dropping my equipment from a moving vehicle), so I made my way around the track slowly.
When our “race” was up, I went back to photographing and snapped the following image.

We had a fantastic time at the track, and it was definitely a fun place to visit for work!
